Food as art

It seems to be common practice in Asia, and in particular Singapore, to photograph your food but it is not something I usually feel drawn to do, so much so that a Singaporean friend when I was showing her some holiday photos asked "where are the photos of what you ate?"

At the weekend Papa T had a couple of days back in Singapore in-between business trips and we decided to go out for a 'nice' meal. We had heard good reports of a nearby restaurant called Au Petit Salut and booked a table. We had an absolutely delicious meal in lovely surroundings and I couldn't resist taking some photos
To start-Slow cooked chilled duck breast, orange puree, sautéed grapes, cherry coulis & micro herbs
Papa T's starter- Crab and avocado mousse, steamed spring vegetables, mayonnaise and salmon roe
Roasted beef tenderloin, sautéed wild mushrooms, Pommes Mousseline, red wine sauce
Confit of Canadian pork belly, apple puree, red cabbage fondue, crispy potato, sage jus

Mango & passion fruit mousse cake, Mandarin sorbet, orange tuile
Chocolate and salted caramel tart, rum & raisin Crème Glacee

I'm not sure that I will get into the habit of photographing my food but if it is as beautifully presented as this meal was then I may be tempted to again.
